... I create accessible and safe learning spaces for teams and individuals. I integrate the experiences of the participants and encourage them to connect these experiences with newly acquired knowledge and skills.

... I enable clients to find their own solutions through various processes. I help people become aware of their own resources and talents.

 

My Approach

I create learning environments in which the experiences of the participants are central. Structured reflection of the participants' own practices enhances this experience-based learning. To ensure sustained learning, I combine the reflection of personal experience with theory-driven analysis. By building a bridge between theory and practice I encourage the participants to integrate their knowledge into their daily life.

In the course of my work, I build on my own intercultural experience. I have lived in different African countries (Uganda, Eritrea, Burkina Faso) with my family for almost ten years. In this time, I have researched how the ways in which different people collaborate are affected by culture.

My Course of Education

I am a strong believer in lifelong learning.

After my studies at the Institute for Comparative Education at the University of Innsbruck, I completed my dissertation. In my dissertation I examined how people experience cultural diversity and under which conditions intercultural experiences lead to the development of intercultural competencies.

My training as a coach and my specialisation in team-coaching have enhanced my professional profile. Trainings in "Art of Hosting", "Storytelling", "Graphic Facilitation" and group dynamics have increased my occupational competency in guiding (group) processes.

The Initial Spark

When I stepped out of the plane in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in the year of 1994, I was young and enthusiastic. Having only recently left my own family, I was eager to explore the social dynamics of large African families, and to find out how children develop in this environment. At the time, I was not aware that this research question would be the beginning of a long-term involvement with the topic.

For me, life away from home opened up new perspectives on my own understanding of being. People didn’t understand what I was saying and my feelings and evaluations were not automatically shared. Only dialogue revealed our shared needs. These experiences fuelled my curiosity. I started to observe in more detail and ask myself and others questions. Even today, the diversity of experiences is the fuel that drives my interest and curiosity.
